The story
I’m not going to pretend I’ve been stitching for twenty years. I’m learning needlepoint right now, out loud, and I’m building the route I wish I’d had for the person one step behind me.
It started with a gift. I went to buy a needlepoint canvas for someone I love and found the whole experience oddly closed — unfamiliar mesh counts (the number of canvas holes per inch), prices that didn’t explain themselves, and an assumption that I already knew the words. I left more confused than when I arrived.
So I decided to figure it out properly and write down every answer as I found it. That’s what this is: a beginner making the answers easier to find. I’m not replacing expertise — I’m making expert knowledge easier to walk into.
How credibility works here
I can tell you where beginners get stuck because I’m learning too — so every answer here is written in plain English and defined the first time it appears. The work splits in two:

The technical details — technique, materials, and safety — are checked against trusted needlepoint references (the Royal School of Needlework and DMC) so the how-to is sound.

Why education comes before kits
Eventually this will be a place to buy a complete beginner kit — printed canvas, all the threads, a blunt needle, and instructions that don’t send you to your phone. But a kit only matters if you feel ready to open it. So the guides come first, and the products come when they’re genuinely ready.
